Pick-N-Mix Active Crossover

Introduction

This is a modular project consisting of all the parts you will need to build any kind of loudspeaker project.

Linkwitz Transform

This Linkwitz Transform includes a 2nd-order high-pass filter to eliminate problems with sub-sonics and large amounts of very low frequency gain. To cope with the non-standard component values that arise from this circuit, three parallel components are allowed for each theoretical component.

2nd-Order High-Pass Filter

This is a Sallen-Key unity gain filter. For improved accuracy, three parallel components are allowed for each resistor.

To work out the component values, check out the 2nd-order High-Pass Filter Designer on the Utilities page of the website.

2nd-Order Low-Pass Filter

This is a Sallen-Key unity gain filter. For improved accuracy, three parallel components are allowed for each capacitor.

To work out the component values, check out the 2nd-order Low-Pass Filter Designer on the Utilities page of the website.

Input Buffer & Baffle Step Compensation

This is an unbalanced line input buffer that also performs baffle step compensation (BSC) if desired. To cope with the non-standard component values that arise from the BSC part of this circuit, three parallel components are allowed for each theoretical component.

Line Driver

This is an unbalanced line driver. Add it on to the output of any board to ensure you can drive long cables with ease. The op-amp I recommend for this task is the OPA134. Do not use NE5534 as that requires external frequency compensation to be applied.
